Spring Blooms Blog Hop!!!

Welcome to the March Journey Blog Hop!  I'm so happy you're hoppin' along!  If you arrived here from Janice Whiting's blog, you're on the right track.  If not, that's ok too!  Just continue the hop and you'll come full circle!

Thanks for hopping to my blog.  Please head over to Vicki Schmidt Soni's blog to see what she has to share.

Not only was this card created for this blog hop but I wanted to make something special, as well, for a friend that has been diagnosed with terminal cancer. Shaker cards are fun to make and fun to receive. This gave me the opportunity to create a shaker card for the first time and it won't be the last as I have so many ideas now!

All products are Fun Stampers Journey.

Thanks for stopping by!

Woo Hoo!

Hey there papercrafters! Two posts in two days, I'm on a roll now! I went to my upline, Cindy Bristow's house, last Saturday for our first unofficial meeting! I got to play with her Fun Stampers Journey stamps, dies and paper! She has been a Journey Coach since November but she has already amassed quite a lot of product! Woo Hoo! It was hard to decide what to start with and my creativity level isn't what it used to be since I haven't played with paper in a very long time. I decided to CASE one of her cards to get me started. I thought this card looked so elegant and I used a sentiment that is versatile. "Thinking of you" can be used for just about anything, birthdays, sympathy, or just simply encouragement.

The second card I did was using Nature Trees stamp set. I have been dying to play with this one! It's a fun stamp that uses a splat stamp as a backround. I used Cool Pool for the splat backround and Hazelnut for the tree. I love the way it turned out.

Yummy and Delicious!

Hello Everyone! It's been a long time since I posted on my blog! So many things have happened in the past year it's hard to know where to begin!

I won't go into detail but I haven't been able to do any papercrafting for the past year due to family obligations and now I'm starting to slowly get back into it. With that, I have signed up as a Fun Stampers Journey Coach. Fun Stampers Journey is a fairly new company and it's CEO is Richard Garay. I haven't met Richard in person yet but he seems to be a really fun person and can't wait for the opportunity to meet him and hope to at the Yummy and Delicious Tour in Va Beach this weekend.

Crop til you drop!

This past weekend I went to Ocean City, Maryland with my daughter and sister-in-law to attend Cropmania! What fun we had there! I decided to work on digital layouts to get caught up because it's an easy and fast way to get 'er done! Close To My Heart's Studio J is so easy and fun to use and you never run out of paper or embellishments!!! And you can change and modify to your heart's content! I completed pages from last May from a Cub Scout event we attended. Doing the layouts brought back fond memories of that weekend with my grandkids.

Continuing On!

It's been a very long time since I posted to my blog and a few things have changed. The one most important one is that I am no longer a Close To My Heart consultant. As much as I loved their products and still do, and I miss the team I was on, Rose Blossom's Legacies,  I just felt it was time to slow down and reflect on my life. Suddenly I realized that life was going by and I wasn't doing a lot of other things that are most important to me like spending time with my grandchildren. When you work full time, outside of the home, time is a precious commodity. I wasn't even sure if I wanted to continue with my blog but decided just because I'm not a consultant doesn't mean I can't blog and share my creative artwork so here I am!

With all that being said, I wanted to share a layout I did for a challenge. The challenge was to use the same photo twice in a layout and I chose an awesome picture of my Grandson Blake that was taken at a park around 2010.

Rose Blossom Challenge Time!

It's that time for the Rose Blossom Challenge! This month we used the "G" key from the Artiste Cricut Cartridge so I made a gift card holder. Isn't this the cutest paper and stamp set?! The paper is called Babycakes and the stamp set is Wild Wonders and they are both in the new Fall/Winter Idea Book that goes live on August 1st! This was really easy to put together!

I work in an athletic facility in a 4-year residential college and most of my co-workers are young coaches. A few of them are starting their families and lucky for me one is expecting a boy in the fall. This will make a great gift for their new baby boy!

Craft Cottage

Last June I attended a weekend crop in Annapolis at The Harbor Scrapbooking Craft Cottage. This is a house that is rented for weekend crafting retreats that has everything there you would need to have a four day, three night crafting weekend get-a-way: 6ft tables, Ott lights and cup holders at each station, two Cricut machines (mats and extra blades included) over a hundred Cricut cartridges, and plenty of idea books. This was a fabulous weekend spent with friends, some I already knew and some I just met. While I was there I created a layout to use specially for this time with my friends using the Buzz & Bumble paper pack and stickease assortment (retired). I just love the way this layout turned out and I have plenty of paper to create more layouts and cards.

Spending time with my crafting buddies is one of my favorite things to do. I love the camaraderie, laughter, and the sharing of crafty ideas.

In Memory

Today marks the 5th year anniversary death date of my son, Chris. Chris passed away from an accidental overdose from taking medications to help with combat related PTSD after his service in the Army. He was a combat medic with the 1st Infantry Division.

I wanted to create something special using the hinged display box from Close To My Heart for my husband's desk at work. I used some of my favorite photos of Chris to capture his fun side because he certainly was a fun person to be around and really enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.

Rose Blossom Challenge Blog!

Here is my challenge for the Rose Blossom Challenge Blog! I love the way this layout came together using the "birthday boy" key! What fun it was to create this using the glitter paper as well and it cut so easily on the Cricut, I was quite surprised! I'll be sure to use the glitter paper more often!

Thanks for stopping by and hope you create something fun and join the challenge!

Throw-Back Thursday!

I wanted to share a layout that I created using a template from Reflections Scrapbook Program written by Jeanette Lynton. If you have never used any of her books for inspiration and ideas on cards or layouts you really must give them a try. They are filled with fabulous photos with full instructions to complete one or two-page layouts.

I created this page of my grandson, Drew, about 3 years ago after his 1st birthday (Drew is now 4!). I used a paper pack called Caboodle (retired) and the colors went perfectly with this photo.

What I love most about Close To My Heart products is, not only the superior quality, but also they have taken out the guess work. It's so easy to create beautiful layouts that will be cherished for years to come. What a great way to share family memories that can be passed down from generation to generation.

Hope you enjoy Throw-Back Thursday and Happy Scrapping!

Later Sk8r

I am very fortunate that I have an awesome and fun group of scrapping buddies! Each month we get together at our local library and have the best time. We chit chat, snack and work on projects whether it's page layouts or cards. Yesterday, I did a little of both and when I got home around 5:00 pm I still wasn't finished with my projects so I made my way into my craft room and finished up.

This layout I did was with Workshops On The Go® Later Sk8r Scrapbooking Kit. I just love this paper and as soon as I saw it in the Spring/Summer 2013 catalog I knew exactly which pictures I was going to use to create this layout! It was so easy and fun to put together.

The photos were taken in 2006 when my youngest son, Ryan, was in his "skate boarding" phase. He and his friends liked to skate off a loading dock behind a local shopping center and one day I decided to capture the moment with my camera.  Ryan has always been my "dare devil" child as you will come to find out in future layouts I plan on creating!

New Challenge Blog

I'm so excited (and a little bit nervous) that I'm on my very first design team! The pressure is really on now!  : ) My upline, Brenda Rose, has been working really hard at developing a design team blog and it looks fabulous! This blog will feature artwork using the Cricut cartridges from Close To My Heart.  This will be a great way for everyone to see all the different and creative ways that the cartridges can be used. We are having a new follower contest so check it out here!!! I hope you love what you see on this new challenge blog.

Surf's Up!

Yesterday, in Southern Maryland, we had a very strange weather day! It was supposed to snow like the dickens but instead we got lots of rain and wind. The public school system closed and so did the college where I'm employed.  Oh, what to do, what to do?  I really didn't have to think too hard about that question!  I got in my craft room and worked on some pages I've been dying to do!  I wanted to use Workshop On The Go® Surf's Up Scrapbooking Kit with photos of my daughter's beautiful family in the Outer Banks from a couple of years ago.  I think it came out great! The beautiful hues of color from the beach photos fit so well with Surf's Up.
